Who We Are
We are one of the oldest Baptist Churches in Victoria and have a long history in the Macedon Ranges. We meet together every Sunday morning to grow spiritually and to encourage each other in life and faith. There are a variety of groups who meet throughout the week. We are governed by a small Church Council and led by a Pastoral Team who love Jesus and want to see people know and encounter His love and transformation.
Our Story
Kyneton Baptist Church was established in 1860 with an initial 14 members. The first pastor was appointed in 1870. The first church building was erected in Piper St. In 1953 the congregation outgrew the building and moved into the former Methodist Church in Ebden St which was purchased in 1982 and is where we continue to meet today.
KBC and individual members have always had a strong community focus with many members making significant contributions to a range of community activities over many decades. There are strong levels of support for local and overseas missions.
After a period without a Senior Pastor from 2021, it was discerned and agreed that God was leading KBC to a team leadership model in the place of a Senior Pastor. This was approved by members at a Church Life meeting in August 2023 and continues today. We believe that every person has a part to play in the Body of Christ.
The local population has been changing rapidly in recent years and we are exploring ways that KBC can have a positive impact in the community through mentoring, building a discipling culture and being responsive to where God is at work.
